Student of the landscape
My subject matter is the landscape; being outside is good for the soul. If we can’t be outside the landscape painting brings that calm feeling inside. Being outside is in my blood having grown up on a nursery and working amongst the trees has made me who I am.
I am now taking it beyond the “landscape” to a new place in my head. I am not concerned with duplicating the landscape, but now making a safe place with the play of softness, surface, light, and tension.
I am and will always be a student of the landscape.
