At work( back in the good ole’ days) I used to protect my coworkers from way too talkative customers who would make it impossible to get our tasks done. If I saw a beloved coworker in peril, I’d call their walkie and say something totally silly like, “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.” Then I’d hang up. They’d pretend like they had a new task to perform so they could excuse themselves. Afterward we’d giggle about it. Honestly, I’m still giggling about it!
